About LEC
Located in a rural, hilly, but picturesque, area in southeastern Iowa, Peruvian
Paso Horses have been bred at Legacy Equine Center since 1996.
Legacy Equine Center is owned and attended by Dr. Ken Harris, an equine
veterinary practitioner with 42 years of experience,
and his wife Barbara whose passion is Peruvian Paso Horses.

Barbara became interested in the Peruvian Paso after reading about them
in the all-breed issue of
Western Horseman in 1979.  However, it wasn't until
1995 that the Lord and her 88-year-old mother made it possible for her to
get her first Peruvian . . . a mare Companilla.

As with many Peruvian Paso devotees, Barbara found it impossible to have
just one Peruvian Paso, and within months she had acquired Companilla's
2-year-old daughter.  In 1996, she acquired two more mares
and started the LEC breeding program.

Although only small breeders, Ken and Barbara strive to raise sound,
well-gaited Peruvian Pasos with good dispositions.  Foals are handled from
the day they are born gently, but firmly.  Within days, they are learning to
stand tied by their mothers daily for their day's ration of pellets.

Although Ken's equine veterinary practice and their horse breeding
operation keeps both him and Barbara busy, they enjoy riding together in
parades.  Barbara also enjoys exhibiting in breed demonstrations and trail
riding as well as training their young horses (with the help of God.)
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
His greatness no one can fathom.
